Pavilion and Recreation Ground
The new Pavilion on Churt recreation ground was completed at the end of 2005 by the new Parish Council. It replaced an old wooden pavilion that had seen many years of constant village use and whilst it has been a costly endeavour it has left Churt with a building to be proud of adding many new facilities for the Sports clubs that use it. The landscaping around the pavilion is due to be finished by May 2006
There are two wonderful changing rooms with full shower facilities, communal rooms and a well equipped kitchen unit. The building has disabled access although there is a raised patio area at the front which is ideal for watching the winter football or the summer cricket.
The local Churt Royals Football Team and the Cricket Club will be making full use of the facilities over the coming year. The Tennis Club has its courts adjacent to the building and will also have use of the rooms.
The Youth Group uses one of the rooms for their weekly meetings and it is expected that the new building will attract further usage from other local Clubs and Societies.
The building is cosy and well planned with one room suitable for dancing making it an ideal venue for wedding receptions or private parties.
Booking periods are arranged in three sessions, morning, afternoon and evening. If you are interested in booking one or more of these sessions then it is advisable to make contact early to avoid disappointment.
The contact for reservations is

Many of the voluntary organisations in Churt hold committee meetings in private homes, being unable to afford the cost of renting one of the available buildings. The Council has decided, for a trial period of six months, to make the Pavilion available to non-commercial, properly constituted village societies and clubs, for committee meetings only, for a nominal charge of £10.
Parking
When the Pavilion is being used by one or more teams for sports events, especially at the weekends, parking can become difficult. There is overflow parking immediately in front of the Church with easy access to the recreation ground through the grounds of Churt Club. We would encourage you to use the overflow car park which is only a short distance away rather than spoil the grass verges on the approach to the pavilion.
It is also important to keep the general environment clean and tidy and any help by placing rubbish in the bins provided would be gratefully accepted.
Fascinating Facts
The playing field at Churt is in memoriam of the First World War and before it was built the cricketers played near Frensham Pond and it seemed that they were more interested in the local hotel than
playing the game. so to combat this a barrel of beer was taken to the ground and the captain could then be sure of having a full side!
