CHURT

Policing

From: PCSO 13228 Boxall

Over the last few weeks there have been reports from the Witley/Milford and Charterhouse area about a male calling door to door offering wheelie bin cleaning services. This male offers to clean bins after they have been emptied and asks for £20 to cover a number of cleanings. The male then does not return to clean bins and offers a range of excuses why he is not able to carry out the work.

Unfornately, the male is plausible and very pleasant, and gives a home address in Horsell, Woking. He has provided documentation stating the Waverley Borough Council has given approval for his work, which is not true as Waverley do not endorse specific traders. He also carries a piece of paper which he claims is signed by a Surrey police officer. This is also a fake document, as we do not approve traders to operate.

This male is already under investigation by Surrey trading standards, and also by our colleagues in Woking.

Please could anyone approached by this man, or by any other trader you may have suspicions of please contact Surrey police on 0845 125 2222

From the Neighbourhood Watch co-ordinator

Dear Coordinators,

For Circulation Please; the message below was recently received from one of our coordinators in Haslemere

" My wife has just taken a call allegedly from SKY TV saying that our boxes need to be changed at a cost of £60. She thought that the call was not genuine and basically told them to go away.
Using 1471 the number was withheld, I then contacted SKY who confirmed that they had not made any call and that they do not ask for £60 to replace any boxes. "
Clearly someone was trying to get money for nothing.
Regards,
 Richard Terry
NHW Manager for Waverley
